We’re pleased to be able to announce the appointment of Revd William Mackay as Chaplain to the AFD Group – and to other members of the Mountain View “Community”. This provides additional support for staff welfare and William can provide a confidential listening ear if at any time you or your family feels the need for someone to lean on.
William began his career in Thomas Cook Travel before moving into full time Christian work 25 years ago. Initially a Methodist Minister, he was in charge of a number of churches, and also fulfilled roles as Hospital Chaplain, Chaplain to parts of the British Army in Northern Ireland, and also acted as Chaplain to a Football Club.
In 2004, his wife Sharyn was given less than a year to live following a prognosis of terminal cancer. She was miraculously healed, and in 2005 William and Sharyn wrote about their experience in a book called ‘The Voice Of Hope’. They then founded Long Life Ministries, which brings hope and compassion to many people who have found themselves in a similar situation around the world.
They moved their base to the Isle Of Man in 2014, where William was recently ordained as the Anglican Minister, based in The Parish Of The Northern Plain – so he is effectively the Anglican minister covering the MV location!
William visits us at Mountain View over lunchtimes once a month, when he will be available for informal chats – or a private conversation. He can also be contacted outside these organised visits - to maintain confidentiality, William can be contacted at [email protected].
