Tech Talk sessions, which run monthly throughout the Autumn and Winter, aim to make high quality informational talks and discussions available and accessible to the wider community especially for people living in the North of the Island.

Welcoming a selection of exciting guest speakers, the talks start at 18.45 and run for approximately an hour, including the opportunity for audience questions and answers. Those attending are welcome to come just for the talk or can arrive from 17.30 to purchase a selection of hot food and refreshments from Babbage’s Bistro – ideal for those coming straight from work.

Thursday 17th February 2022 – Building A Mentally Healthy Workplace

Presented by Ali Vondy, an instructor for both Mental Health First Aid England and Mindapples UK as well as Founder of Manx Minds. Growing up in Northern Ireland during ‘The Troubles’ and later being evacuated from Zaire at gunpoint during the outbreak of civil war, Ali Vondy is no stranger to difficult situations and witnessing tragic circumstances. This wealth of life experience has been invaluable to Ali as she undertook her training as an instructor with Mental Health First Aid England and Mindapples UK, going on to found Manx Minds, a mental health and wellbeing training company. In this informative and interactive talk, Ali will address the need to keep ourselves mentally fit and will explore tips on how to do this, both at home and in creating a culture of care in the workplace.

Thursday 18th November 2021 – Abandoned in Cyber Space – Why a Digital Identity Matters to You

Presented by Chris Gledhill, MD of PDMS.

With over 25 years experience in Enterprise IT, Chris Gledhill joins us to explore digital identity and how yours impacts both your personal and business life. As well as the basics, Chris will also look at digital passports and consider whether it’s time for the Government to provide a national cyber identity assurance framework for citizens, companies and those who would like to do business with them.

Thursday 23rd September 2021 - Data Breach? That Would Never Happen to Me
